Wireless charging - the future for electric cars

It's electric, and like all battery-operated automobiles needs regular charging. "The charging is done wirelessly, you park up, turn off the key and voila... charging starts automatically," says Anthony Thomson, CEO of HaloIPT, a UK company that has installed the technology. The process uses electromagnetic induction to transfer power from a pad built into the ground to another installed in the bottom of the car. The system could be installed in a supermarket parking place, garage floor or the ground at a special charging station. When a driver parks the vehicle, the two pads line up and with a flick of a switch, the charging starts.

Texas executes 9/11 'revenge' killer

A man who embarked on a shooting spree in what he claimed was retaliation for 9/11 has been executed at a prison in Texas. The lone survivor of Mark Stroman's attack on convenience store workers in late 2001, Rais Bhuiyan, originally from Bangladesh, unsuccessfully sued to stop the execution, saying his religious beliefs as a Muslim required him to forgive the man. Stroman claimed the shooting spree that killed two men and injured a third targeted people from the Middle East, though all three victims were from south Asia. It was the death of 49-year-old Vasudev Patel, from India, that put Stroman on death row. Stroman's execution was the eighth this year in Texas.

Mac OS X Lion pounces

As promised, Apple let Mac OS X Lion out of its cage this morning. Version 10.7 of the operating system has more than 250 new features, Apple said, but an installation disc isn't one of them: it's available today for $29.99 as a 3.49GB download only. Apple enjoys pushing the computing industry into the future by dropping technology it deems to be from the past-for example floppy drives missing from the first iMac-and those who want a real-world copy of the OS will have to wait until Apple releases it on a USB thumb drive next month for $69. The Mac OS X download, available through the Mac App Store, dovetails with Apple's new MacBook Air and Mac Mini Lion-based computers. These new models are updated with Intel's modern Sandy Bridge processors and a high-speed Thunderbolt data transfer port-and none has a DVD drive for the next OS upgrade.

Google+ For iPhone Now The Top Free App In iTunes

Google+ for iPhone hit Apple's App Store a mere 24 hours ago but it's being downloaded like wildfire as it currently sitting atop the heap as the most popular free app available from iTunes. This is big news considering Google+ is still invitation-only and only has 18 million users so far, compared to Facebook's 750 million. That said, Google+ users can now upload contacts from Outlook and Mac address books (not Facebook, though), which may result in even bigger Google+ adoption numbers.

Steve Jobs dismisses rumors of his successor

Apple CEO and cancer survivor Steve Jobs is not keen on discussing speculation about who will replace him when the inevitable happens. This week, the Wall Street Journal reported that the company's board of directors have been discussing plans about who will take over the position that has been held by Jobs since the late 1990s, and perhaps the title that some will always bestow upon Jobs and Jobs alone, once the man is no longer able to hold the position himself. The Journal said it had credible information that the board has already been meeting with headhunters and "at least one head of a high-profile technology company."

One of the most powerful free antivirus was updated a few weeks ago and then wait for it to settle in our computer, we have enough information to give and nothing definitive early perceptions of the new version of AVG Antivirus. When you use a triad potential that excites us, and which consists of a lighter on resources, faster analysis and better effectiveness results. With you and ready to download.

AVG has maintained a very strong position on the podium of the most downloaded free antivirus, and part of this legitimacy it receives from users is that, despite being one of the lightest, manages to combine the efficiency needed to keep viruses at dash and agility in the search processes, making these not delay unnecessarily. Recently updated to the new version, and because they are already available to test with more closeness to AVG Anti-Virus 2013 and see what's new.

First we see that the swelling of AVG Anti-Virus Free 2013 is beginning to show when within the same suite have Antivirus Protection, mail scanning, scan links, social network protection, anti cookies, identification and protection corresponding to the whole area of wireless and Internet connections. Of course this is not all bad, but the good news is you can disable some of the modules you do not need during installation, so it will not be installed along with antivirus kernel application.

Even in the same facility can block the installation of AVG gadget, the scanner personal email, identity protection and AVG Surf-Shield. Here was flexible and that is very good. It also prevents the installation of AVG search bar and discomfort it generates an error that these companies continue to commit without realizing that remain more than they add.

A level interface, everything seems to be looking more like Windows 8 and its aesthetics. The buttons on dark green squares but cakes are constant and beyond the reference to the operating system, you can not judge because it is quite comfortable and clean, which is always plausible. AVG Anti-Virus Free 2013 has improved sharply in regard to file detection since the algorithm has been optimized. Also included a reputation index for files based on what users contribute to the analysis in the cloud.

If you still convinced with his gratuity and improved aesthetics, AVG Free Antivirus 2013 is available as a web installer and offline installer. The web installer is 4 megabytes in size and will download the rest of the installation files from the Internet during installation. The offline installer is available for Windows 32-bit version and 64-bit, with a size of 118 MB and 130 MB respectively.

The battle against malware continues, as our exploration of tools that could be helpful in fighting infections, but mainly to avoid them. More and more programs that integrate multiple security features in order to protect the computer, and ROBOSCAN is one of them. The program advertises itself as a "security package for Internet", and in addition to antivirus and antimalware capabilities, brings a firewall for those wishing to replace the solution on Windows.

I would imagine that every one of our readers have at hand a security solution to keep digital bugs when away from their computers, no matter what platform they use. In computer security there are no guarantees, but we must never cease to be alert. Anyway, always is an example that reminds me that the weakest link in computer security, the user is. The last system I should check in the week was full of strange and bars advertisements that nobody seemed to take over. There are very comprehensive security programs, but the conduct (or might say "self-preservation") at the computer user is also essential to avoid problems. Returning to the software, you probably can not convince you to change your current solution by a new one, but if you are exploring alternatives, or just need to assemble a computer antimalware software, you may want to check out ROBOSCAN.

ROBOSCAN offers several security modules, even in its ad-based free version. On the one hand has an antivirus and antimalware engine that can intercept threats in real time. Manual methods of analysis are divided into Fast, Basic and Advanced, each with a different depth level. ROBOSCAN can take care of yourself with a self-protection module, but can also do something similar in the installation of Windows, as it is able to check whether the operating system needs updates via Windows Update. It is also necessary to highlight the presence of a firewall. There are many users who are not convinced of the robustness of firewall available in Windows, and if you're one of them, you can turn on the ROBOSCAN (automatically disable the Windows firewall). ROBOSCAN announced in the Activity Center, and because of its many functions may not be convenient to install along with other similar programs. ROBOSCAN seeks to replace, not complement.

Perhaps what could be considered negative points are its size ROBOSCAN download (over 130 megabytes) and the delay in the first update (19 minutes!). Apparently its developers have not kept up firms into the executable, so you should find that ROBOSCAN update items that were about half a year old. If you want to use ROBOSCAN not put off updating because it is a good idea, especially when you have many associated functions. Beyond that, ROBOSCAN has not given us problems, we have not noticed that you consume too many resources, and delivers quite a change from an ad or two. Another option, if you need one.

The boss of the giant antivirus believes that Apple is not reactive enough in case of fault on its software. If Apple is great on the design of its products, it is perhaps not even in terms of security. That at least is what condemns Eugene Kaspersky, founder and owner of a giant Russian anti-virus, interviewed by Computer Business Review. "I think they are ten years behind Microsoft in terms of security," he firmly told. "The introduction of malicious software in the Apple universe was only a matter of time and market share," he said, adding that "cyber criminals have now identified the Mac as an interesting ground" . "Welcome to the world of Microsoft, is full of viruses!" is he exclaimed at Apple.

Accustomed to managing operating systems not targeted by attacks, Apple now has to face many challenges. Its market share explodes on the PC market, but also - and especially - on the smartphones and tablets, where Apple sells its iPhone and iPad like hotcakes.

600 000 Mac infected Flashback

"Apple is entering the world in which Microsoft is over ten years: updates, security patches, etc.." Said Eugene Kaspersky, adding that he expected "to see more and more malicious code for Mac because cyber criminals learn from their successes and Flashback was the first successful Mac ".

Kaspersky is not his first attempt and had previously criticized Apple just after the discovery of the Trojan Flashback, which has infected more than 600,000 Macs in the world. The Apple had put a lot of time to react, leaving its users vulnerable for more than three months. In the security world, where everyone knows that zero risk does not exist, the reliability is not the absence of faults, but the speed of the reaction of the software. On this point, Microsoft has made great strides with Windows 98 and Windows XP, and has teams on a war footing twenty-four hours out of twenty-four.
