Wireless charging - the future for electric cars

It's electric, and like all battery-operated automobiles needs regular charging. "The charging is done wirelessly, you park up, turn off the key and voila... charging starts automatically," says Anthony Thomson, CEO of HaloIPT, a UK company that has installed the technology. The process uses electromagnetic induction to transfer power from a pad built into the ground to another installed in the bottom of the car. The system could be installed in a supermarket parking place, garage floor or the ground at a special charging station. When a driver parks the vehicle, the two pads line up and with a flick of a switch, the charging starts.

Texas executes 9/11 'revenge' killer

A man who embarked on a shooting spree in what he claimed was retaliation for 9/11 has been executed at a prison in Texas. The lone survivor of Mark Stroman's attack on convenience store workers in late 2001, Rais Bhuiyan, originally from Bangladesh, unsuccessfully sued to stop the execution, saying his religious beliefs as a Muslim required him to forgive the man. Stroman claimed the shooting spree that killed two men and injured a third targeted people from the Middle East, though all three victims were from south Asia. It was the death of 49-year-old Vasudev Patel, from India, that put Stroman on death row. Stroman's execution was the eighth this year in Texas.

Mac OS X Lion pounces

As promised, Apple let Mac OS X Lion out of its cage this morning. Version 10.7 of the operating system has more than 250 new features, Apple said, but an installation disc isn't one of them: it's available today for $29.99 as a 3.49GB download only. Apple enjoys pushing the computing industry into the future by dropping technology it deems to be from the past-for example floppy drives missing from the first iMac-and those who want a real-world copy of the OS will have to wait until Apple releases it on a USB thumb drive next month for $69. The Mac OS X download, available through the Mac App Store, dovetails with Apple's new MacBook Air and Mac Mini Lion-based computers. These new models are updated with Intel's modern Sandy Bridge processors and a high-speed Thunderbolt data transfer port-and none has a DVD drive for the next OS upgrade.

Google+ For iPhone Now The Top Free App In iTunes

Google+ for iPhone hit Apple's App Store a mere 24 hours ago but it's being downloaded like wildfire as it currently sitting atop the heap as the most popular free app available from iTunes. This is big news considering Google+ is still invitation-only and only has 18 million users so far, compared to Facebook's 750 million. That said, Google+ users can now upload contacts from Outlook and Mac address books (not Facebook, though), which may result in even bigger Google+ adoption numbers.

Steve Jobs dismisses rumors of his successor

Apple CEO and cancer survivor Steve Jobs is not keen on discussing speculation about who will replace him when the inevitable happens. This week, the Wall Street Journal reported that the company's board of directors have been discussing plans about who will take over the position that has been held by Jobs since the late 1990s, and perhaps the title that some will always bestow upon Jobs and Jobs alone, once the man is no longer able to hold the position himself. The Journal said it had credible information that the board has already been meeting with headhunters and "at least one head of a high-profile technology company."

The application, Facebook Camera, is free and opened only for IOS operating systems Apple, said the California company on his blog. The tool basically reproduces the process of posting photos on Facebook but incorporates some new features like the fact that it is possible to climb the social network multiple snapshots simultaneously.

Facebook Camera offers access to the pictures published by the user in their profile as well as charged by your contacts, is based on "tag", "like" and allows comment. The application includes editing software with a menu of predefined options very similar to that in Instagram.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in announcing the acquisition of Instagram that the objective of the operation was "to provide the best photo sharing experience" because that is "one of the reasons why so many people like Facebook ".

Technically the purchase of Instagram by Facebook is not complete and is awaiting approval by competition authorities in the U.S. Technological media in the U.S. are in direct competition Camera Facebook to Instagram that boasts over 30 million downloads on Apple devices and in 2011 was named the best application for iPhone, and now some analysts say the acquisition of a defensive move by the social network.

"Instagram was taking control over the photos on facebook mobile and could not wait and see how that company got every one of the users while they were still working on perfecting the Camera Facebook application," said Mike Isaac's blog All Things Digital Group The Wall Street Journal.

Isaac asks what place will Instagram when his integration into Facebook and if Facebook merged with Camera, which ruled the social network when it announced the purchase.

Apple is the most valued company worldwide, not just in the technology sector

Going back to speak again and milestone marks because it seems that now the apple still beating its own record. Today we know that Apple has become the world's most valuable brand, and as we show in the chart above, incredibly, no one is put in front of Apple in the sector of large enterprises, ie , which is the most uses worldwide.

But make no mistake, because if you look though the list of marks on the screenshot, we're not just talking about the technology sector, if not all companies that are, for what Apple not only surpasses all its competition or IBM's great if brands like Coca Cola, McDonald's or any other big you can think of.

For those who like the numbers tell them that in the case of the consolidation of Apple as the world's most valuable brand, the figures are more than generous for the block, because in total, the capital of the company is just under than $ 183 billion, representing a 19% increase over last year. So there will be a lot of global crisis, but it seems that the Cupertino-based company, just affects you.

Shares of Facebook, the largest social network in the world, fell over 12% today on his second day in bag to change by more than $ 33 each, which lost the price of $ 38 reached in his historic debut Wall Street last Friday. Half an hour after the start of the session on the Nasdaq, shares of the social network that directs Mark Zuckerberg left the 12.27% or $ 4.69, which were exchanged for $ 33.54 and the value Company stock fell below the 100,000 million, up about 96,000 million.

With that fall, shares of Facebook were exchanged last even below the price range calculated by the firm before going public, between 34 and 38 dollars. The social network that connects more than 900 million people worldwide debut on the stock exchange on 18 May after raising at least 16,000 million with its initial public offering of shares (IPO), a figure that could potentially increase to 18,400 million.

In the midst of an unknown expectation on Wall Street in years, shares of the company began to exchange this Friday $ 42, up 11%, but minutes later he was slowing down to almost no record changes in what had to partly to do some technical errors on the Nasdaq.

Finally, Facebook ended the day with a minimal rise of 0.6%, so that their stock closed slightly above its starting price at $ 38.23 on a day which changed more than 500 million their actions. In any case, the premiere social network was the largest on Wall Street of a technology, well ahead of Google, which in 2004 raised 1,900 million dollars, and the third largest in the history of any U.S. company , behind only General Motors, who joined 18,140 million, and Visa, who pocketed 19,650 million. "Right now this all seems very important. Going public is a milestone in our history, but our mission is not being a listed company, our mission is to make the world more open and connected," Zuckerberg said at the premiere.

Samsung has announced a new RAM technology that will make mobile phones with 2GB of memory a reality very soon, possibly within the next year 2013. While there are already some terminals that use this  RAM, Samsung's new design will put everything at once on a single chip, which is certainly what the manufacturers want.

This will allow virtually all manufacturers of mobile terminals can have 2GB of RAM on the market. In today's mobile phone sector, 1GB of RAM has become the standard. And it's a high figure, since only a year ago was the standard 512MB. If everything goes the same way in 2013 to see phones with 2GB of RAM will be as usual.

Add more RAM means a faster multitasking and processing more efficient, with the ability to have many more applications open at once. A number of 2GB of RAM means being able to take handfuls of applications open and running simultaneously without the mobile phone suffer slowdowns or problems of any kind.

The new Samsung memory technology will not only have 2GB on each chip, but these chips themselves are thinner and more efficient energy use thanks to a 30nm design factory. Samsung says the phone with 2GB of RAM will become 13% of the market in 2012, but in 2013 the figure will rise dramatically to 50%. By 2014 the forecast is even more positive for the 2GB of RAM. This has already led to people from referring to the successors of smartphones as superphones, although it is possible that the term does not change.

Moving on, consumers 'normal' operating Apple products as follows, and I mean those who bought iPod touch, iPhone or iPad, happy after buying his new toy head to connect it to your computer iTunes and sync your content between the two teams, surf the internet, view email, and stop talking, they go up there, enjoy your purchase and speak wonders of his aparatico.

Other curious, which I call "intermediate" level, and begin to explore the world of applications and discover the great potential of productivity that you can earn in everyday use. This type of user starts with free applications as complete and iTunes is going deeper into the world of games, magazines, applications, etc..

Shortly after "time" credit card is a partner in the acquisition of gaming applications and payments, which because of its low cost are readily available in their full versions. This is the kind of user that I will call "legal" is the one who does everything according to the rules and parameters designed by Apple to use their equipment manufactured.

There are other types of Apple users, those same fans to the previous ones but insatiable and demanding when using your device, I see that are like those who want to get the most out of their newly acquired equipment, unrestricted, restrictions and without paying a single penny for the software, for those people enough money they paid to have the equipment, ie, why pay for software if enough money is already paid for the hardware?

Well, at this point there is a new concept called jailbreak, not known for the first group of people I described, or ignored in some cases. According to Wikipedia jailbreak is "the process of removing the limitations imposed by Apple on devices that use the IOS operating system by using modified kernels. Such devices include the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPhone and Apple TV second generation.

Jailbreak allows users full access to the operating system, allowing you to download applications, extensions and themes that are not available through the official App Store. Jailbreak A device can still use the App Store, iTunes and all other functions, such as making phone calls. The Jailbreak is a privilege escalation and the term has been used with other computer systems "

This definition of jailbreak can not be better described, but I would go into a couple of new concepts that are mentioned and which are probably unknown to you: let's start with the kernel, this is the heart of the team responsible for controlling the operating system by the hardware and software work in sync. What they call IOS is the operating system are those icons, buttons, tabs controlled by a kernel. Another concept worth mentioning are "extensions and themes not available in App Store" is that there do not know how many thousands of applications that are not available on Apple's official AppStore, mostly because "do not meet the requirements "and for some reason are not accepted in the official app store, as a result, application repositories have created" unofficial "available to be downloaded on Apple machines with IOS operating system. These applications in most cases are free.

The difference between the legal and the "not so legal".

CYDIA: is the software application that allows the installation of programs that are not on the AppStore. Enables the user to be able to download applications for iPhone, iPod Touch or iPhone with Jailbreak. It was developed by Jay Freeman (aka "saurik"). Cydia is considered the "worm" biting the apple, but that allows you to install unofficial applications does not make users "pirates" or in "bad trip". At this point the jailbreak is "healthy" using Cydia.

Installous: In my personal concept worm that is the "rotten" apple. This application allows you to install for free pay almost any application available on the AppStore, piracy or not an application repository "crakeadas" that may be in its final version, but who are available for installation.

Strangely, a feature that Microsoft has never deigned to add software to its popular office suite fee (and expensive) is the tabbed browsing through open documents. Tabbed browsing is much more convenient than using the icons in the taskbar. But, as always, you can rely on developers to correct "omissions" from Microsoft. Thus, Office Tab free version adds tabbed browsing to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. For other major Microsoft applications (Publisher, Access, Project and Visio), it will leave your bank card or credit to buy one of two paid versions (moderate prices).

Office Tab you can set to tell it how to open a new document, how close the tabs and how to manage them. You can also set the overall appearance of the tabs: position, style, color, size and font. For more advanced functions like individual coloring of the tabs, blocking, backing up all documents or bookmarking, you will also get one of your plastic cards.

But with the free version, you can still place the tabs in the order of your taste, hide and know when a file changed is not saved (an asterisk appears after the filename in the tab ).
