The gas obtained in this conversion may be applied directly to internal combustion engines without modification. An infrared camera, a laser scanning and inertial measurement unit is all you need the Digits to run as long as the package is installed on a bracelet at a reasonable distance from the user's hand. Although this is just a prototype, Digits can detect and recognize gestures in real time, to the nearest hundredth of an inch. In part, this is reminiscent of the great Leap Motion, but one of the most important differences is that Digits not need to be at the computer to work. In fact, do not even need to look at the device. For a smartphone, with simple gestures the user is able to tune to a different radio, change the volume or skip to the next song.
By itself, Digits can probably get a place among the game as follows control, but things get even more interesting when you consider the possibility of combining the Digits with some Google-style Glass. Dynamic gesture recognition and augmented reality is presented as a great combination, and who finds a way to "do better", you will get a substantial advantage in a market waiting to be exploited. A group of scientists from the Universities of Sheffield and Sussex are developing what could become the first artificial brain of honeybee history. The ambitious project aims to build an accurate computer model that mimics perfectly the behavior of the brain of one of these insects and use it as "trip computer" of a flying robot can operate autonomously. Work has already begun, and if successful will be fulfilling one of the greatest challenges of modern science: build a robotic brain capable of complex tasks. Generally, such work has focused on the mammalian brain emulation. But insects also have brains "powerful", including a greater ability to discriminate odors or chemicals present.
According to James Marshall, a computer scientist at the University of Sheffield as part of this task force, "a simulated brain is one of the great challenges of artificial intelligence. So far, many attempts to recreate biological brains have focused on cognitive systems found in humans, monkeys and mice. We have so far neglected the simpler organisms like insects, despite having surprisingly advanced cognitive abilities." Scientists hope to use these flying robots in search and rescue missions, or even mechanical pollination of some crops.
