Jailbreak iPhone, viewing icons in landscape format

Posted by Unknown Saturday, April 28, 2012

The Springboard or desk of the iPhone does not support the view in landscape mode. Not so with the iPhone, due to screen size and function of the device itself, it does offer a landscape view of the home screen. Different iPhone models offer this feature but is reserved for certain applications and the main screen showing icons only displayed in portrait format, so you have to go turn the terminal depending on what you're doing.

As always, Cydia is a solution to this problem. Cydia is the application store for mobile devices that Apple has applied the jailbreak, a method that eliminates the restrictions imposed by Apple and gives more freedom to users can activate new functions or customize the device. In the alternative app store there are many tools to turn the iPhone home screen just as happens on the iPad. However, most of them are extra, an example would SBRotator, which fulfills its purpose perfectly, but costs two dollars , which can be inconvenient for many users.

The developer Ryan Petrich has recently published a similar application is also free. His name is IconRotator and as its name suggests makes the application icons rotate to fit the way you're holding the device, even if we take the view it allows iPhone upside down. But does not rotate around the Springboard as with the iPad. The icons are kept in the same position all the time and only turn on themselves. The dock always stays in one place so if we turn the terminal dock will stay where it was but with the icons drawn. Although not a real turning the home screen function is the same and not have to go turn the terminal to display the content correctly.

Ryan Petrich is a jailbreak application developer well known, is the creator of useful tools like FullForce Activator or iPad, among many others. All what this developer has his seal of quality and IconRotator not going to be less. The behavior of this application is the most fluid and the animations when you turn the icons are smooth and seamless.

IconRotator is free and hosted on the personal repository of Ryan Petrich, the address is http://rpetri.ch/repo/. To install it you have to add this address in the Cydia sources, the download is very fast because the application is very light (only weighing 24 Kb). IconRotator not install any entry in the menu settings of the terminal and all you have to make it work is a respring (restart SringBoard) when finished downloading from the store Cydia.
