2.6 million subscribers for Free Mobile

Posted by Unknown Tuesday, May 15, 2012

While the launch of its offer on 10 January, was orchestrated through a press conference (and teasing) skilfully presented, it is by a simple press release sent Tuesday morning at 7: 30 pm, the troublemaker announced the mobile subscriber numbers earned in the first quarter: 2.6 million people joined in late March that the operator does not exist on 1 January 2012. After his first 80 days old, Free will is offered 4% of the mobile market in France.

More importantly, the least we can say is that it did not leave the competition marble. Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom, the three main operators, have each unveiled an offer low cost (respectively Sosh, Red and B & You) and maneuvers continue: Bouygues Telecom to offer just Darty Mobile, ensuring a place in the distributor stores. SFR, who thanked Frank Esser, will be piloted in September by Michel Combes, the former head of Vodafone Europe. Orange, who lost in the meantime just over 600,000 subscribers, says not to let down our guard and could review again its offerings in the coming weeks.

Free had to reassure his side connection problems faced by some of its subscribers in late afternoon. But Xavier Niel, the main shareholder of Free, firmly believes in its disruptive model. He launched this week with Michael Golan, former CEO of Free France, Golan Israel Telecom. An operator that offers monthly plans ranging from NIS 9.99 (2 euros) to 99 shekels (20 euros). Never change a winning formula?
