Microsoft invests 300 million in Nook Reader "ebooks with Windows 8 in the light"

In a wise move, Barnes & Noble has launched a subsidiary called Newco preliminarily as they choose a name that will focus entirely on the Nook, in which Microsoft has invested 300 million dollars. The Nook is the reader of eBooks Barnes & Noble and while there has always been overshadowed by the ubiquitous Kindle has worked very well in U.S..

This investment of 300 million dollars from Microsoft have been given almost 18% of the new subsidiary and apart from representing a logical move by the company in its bid to compete against Amazon and Apple in selling some books open interesting questions for the future. And is that Windows 8 is just around the corner and with it the strongest bid in the history of Microsoft for the world of tablets and the ecosystem that surrounds them.

Thus, although neither of the two companies have declared their position, you may see in the near future readers Nook (which currently run a modified own Android) riding Windows 8 RT (the version of it focused on tablets) and benefiting from all the functionalities. By the time the agreement also means that through the new Windows Marketplace 8 users will have a specific application with the entire catalog of books Nook and synchronization options.

Anyway, while sweeping the Amazon Kindle and Apple makes his first steps with the iBook Store and the iPhone as popular ebook reader, this movement is a good attempt by Microsoft to catch up. The electronic book market continues to be increasingly interesting and promises to provide adequate benefits, indeed the future.
